Bargain Value - November 2009

THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE DISCOUNTS

November 30th 2009 22:56
More and more these days, shoppers are handed or mailed a customer
survey to provide feedback to large and small business concerns about
their experiences during their last visit. In most cases, surveys can be
completed online, via toll-free number or by mail.

To entice shoppers to take the time to respond, many business
enterprises are offering a chance to win say a thousand dollar
shopping spree or other fairly decent prizes for completing the
various surveys.

We recommend that you participate in their surveys. It's free
and it's your chance to speak out.

And if you complain, don't be surprised if you receive a peace
pipe offering in the form of a dollars off coupon to smooth things
over.

One caveat though: be carefully not to provide these inquiring
corporate enterprises with more information then they need to know.
For instance, never give your date of birth, taxpayer ID numbers
(unless you won a substantial prize and are required to provide
one). Always best to use a post office box or mail drop as
your mailing address, others you'll be deluged with junk mail
at your home's mail box.

So give it try. Play the survey game and see what happens.
And don't be shy about complaining because the squeaky
wheel gets the discounts!

SAVE ON TURKEY TODAY

November 25th 2009 13:37
'Twas the day before Thanksgiving and all through supermarket aisles,
shoppers faces were filled with smiles.
For all noble turkeys soon to be slices
had drastically low prices.

But one must ask in checkout lines exceedingly slower,
can my turkey be had for a price even lower?

For the answer is "Yes" one must rejoice,
alas first one must raise her voice.

A supermarket manager first must be found,
to show competitors' lower prices are sound.

"Good sir, Acme Market's price can you match?
If not, the first bus I must catch."

To shop where the turkey deal is indeed the best,

"Good sir, I do not jest!

Lower my bird price and I will buy your yams,
and perhaps as well a suckling ham.

"Thank you good sir for seeing the economic light,
to keep my business in your sight."

To one and to I all I must say,
wishing you a blessed and joyous Thanksgiving day!

SAVE WITH ELECTRIC CARS

November 23rd 2009 18:13
If you'd like to slash your overpriced gasoline costs down to well,
zero--start planning to buy an electric car next year! Almost
every major automobile manufacturer, even, Chrysler has one
in the preproduction or planning stages.

The most reasonably priced one slated for next year's release
is Nissan's Leaf starting around US$26,000. Next up in the
realistically priced category is the Chevy Volt in the 40 grand
range.

Electric cars are nothing new, just a rehashing of an old
concept that was squashed by Big Oil interests in the World
War I decade. Manhattan had electrically powered taxi
cabs in 1898!

But Big Oil corporations did not like Henry Ford and Thomas
Edison's plan to mass produced electric cars with parking
meter sized recharge stations throughout America.

Our battery technology is evolving everyday for the better--
unlike Edison's doomed storage batteries. In fact, a company
called Coulomb Technologies is already producing electric car
"charging stations" for 57 customers worldwide including
McDonald's!

What does that mean for us frugal motorists? Good news. We'll
be able to charge our electric cars overnight at home and then
top off the charge at retail outlets like McDonalds, supermarkets,
municipally owned and privately owned charger outlets while going
about our daily business.

Granted we've got a long way to go to get charger outlets as prevalent
as gasoline stations, but the handwriting is on the wall: the electric car
will proliferate in the coming decade. So, start thinking about acquiring
onein the years ahead to save on transportation costs.
