Bargain Value - May 2011

NEW USE FOR BREAD BAGS

May 16th 2011 14:39
What can be done with those hefty plastic bags used to wrap
retail sliced bread and rolls? They seem to be ubiquitous in
modern supermarkets and convenience stores throughout
the world.

Yeah, you can toss them in the rubbish can, as most households
do. Or, how about giving them one more use before tossing them.

Why not reuse empty bread bags as trash bags in your automobile?
It's a simple process to pop a handy top hole in these bags so
they can be hung from a handle or small suction cup mounted hook
in your vehicle.

This way, at least they get one more use before being banished to

the trash.

SAVE ON MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS

May 5th 2011 15:59
Mother's Day is rapidly approaching and with it the stress of
buying a gift. There's no need to spend big bucks on
professional flower delivery services.

If you still live within driving distance of your mother, why
not stop by your local greenhouse or chain store retailer
that sells plants and pick up an expensive one?

Yesterday, I stopped by my local greenhouse and picked
up two beautiful flats of colorful impatient flowers for a
mere US$6.

Now, I can either present them in the flats as a gift, or
if I chose to be fancy; I can repot them in a larger

unused hanging flower pot for a greater wow effect.

Let's face it, Mother's Day gifts are a major retail
enterprise, so to save bucks: THINK CREATIVELY
AND FRUGALLY!

Happy Mother's Day!

NO DRIVE DAYS

May 1st 2011 15:33
To help combat the greed-driven gasoline prices this month,
consider instituting a "NO DRIVE DAY" in your household.
At least one day per week, make plans not to drive a gasoline
powered vehicle. Leave it in the driveway.

It's not hard to do. Yes, most people rely on their vehicles
to get back and forth to work five days per week. How about
the other two days of the week?

Can't most errands and shopping be completed in five days
through trip combining and simply planning ahead?

Must we race to the store in our automobiles when we
run out of milk?

Walking and bicycling are great gasoline savers.

NO DRIVE DAYS. Think of the affect on oil prices if
every automobile owner in the world incorporated this
simple money-saving concept.
