POST CHRISTMAS SAVINGS

As we all know, the day-after-Christmas, all the retail chains
worldwide are clambering to clean out their Christmas-themed
merchandise, often at bargain prices.

If you need wrapping paper, boxed Christmas card sets, holiday
lights or lawn fixtures, the week after Christmas is the time to
prowl the aisles searching for closeout deals at your local
retailers.

Supermarkets will also be clearing out their Christmas-themed
food products and hard goods as well.

Product returns will be flooding in to retailers delivered by people
who simply don't like their gifts. Ask the store customer service

people if they have "returns" they'd like to move out the door
at the right price.

SAVE ON HOLIDAY MEALS

Having a bunch or relatives or friends over for a holiday
season meal? Why not skip the expensive menu items?
Sure it may be Christmas or New Years Eve but that's
no reason to blow your weekly food budget.

Rather than serve an expensive hunk of beef or ham
as the meal's main attraction, how about going creative
vegetarian this year?

Vegetables are less expensive and it's easy to make
a veggie casserole taste great. There are so many wonderful
vegetarian cookbooks out there and free recipes all over the web.

Besides the heathy eating selling point to dinner guests,

vegetarian dishes can be really colorful--vibrant red peppers,
fresh green beans, those enticing orange squash hues.

If you must gravitate towards traditional meat and potatoes
entrees to come old Uncle Joe happy, pick up a frozen
turkey at a good price per pound. Go big. Then you have a
week's worth of leftover turkey for sandwiches, casseroles,
or salads.

People always ask, "what can I bring?" Well, at least most of them
do. Have them bring the pricey cocktail hour finger food like
shrimp or an assortment of cheese. Tell another they can bring
dessert.

SAVE ON DISHWASHER DETERGENT

To get an extra wash load out of those 2.12kg/4.68lb
big boxes of machine dishwasher detergent, don't be
so quick about tossing that seemingly empty carton
into the recycling bin.

Most of the powder dishwasher detergent manufacturers
incorporate one of those handy-dandy little metallic
pour spouts into the side of the box. They work fine
but have you ever checked to see if they leave product
behind?

Hey, dishwashing machine detergent is not bargain-
priced. Here's how to get an extra load out of every
box you buy.

Before tossing that seemingly empty box, rip or
cut off the box top. Low and behold, we bet you'll find
an ounce or so of detergent lying in wait in the bottom
corners of that box.

Simply pour the powder, that might have gotten carelessly
tossed, into your machine and there you go: one more
load of dishes washed.

Thinking of the savings throughout the world if everyone did
this!
