SAVE ON PETROL IV
February 2nd 2012 22:49
You know, almost every time news of unrest in
some part of the world crosses our screens our
airwaves, commodity traders profit by bidding up
the price of a so-called, "barrel of oil."
Does anyone ship crude oil by "barrels" anymore?
This 19th century commodity is shipped, expensively,
via tanker freighters, pipelines and ultimately by gas
guzzling diesel trucks to your local petrol station.
Enough is enough. Simply because a few ethic groups
in one corner of the world don't like each other and the
commodity market reacts---on speculation--that the price,
of a so-called "barrel of oil" will soar in price on a media
news bite, doesn't mean the rest of us have to suffer
at the pumps.
Hopefully, the automotive industry with industry leaders
like TOYOTA and innovators like TESLA and even the
reborn GENERAL MOTORS, will get the message that
we want practical, affordable, plug-in HYBRID cars, that
perform for us on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, until these mega-corporations get their industrial
acts together, here's a few tips you can use today to save on
petrol:
1) Plan your next stop (signs/lights) coast to it.
2) Don't accelerate so much to keep pace with traffic.
3) Stay in the SLOW LANE, you'll get there perhaps
five minutes later, but look at the gas you save.
4) Drive below the "speed limit;" yet not too slow to
piss people off.
5) Don't drive unless absolutely necessary. You know the
drill: work, shopping, dates.
6) Give yourself EXTRA time to get to work on time.
We should have a meter connected to your car's gas pedal--
like a taxi cab meter--that gives you a dashboard readout in
current daily prices of how much petrol you are burning at any
given moment in time.
Dreaming? Perhaps. Beyond the realm of possibility? At Bargain-
Value we think such a cell or Sat phone real-time link is coming
sooner than we expect.
