CHECK OUT CHAIN STORES FOR MILK & EGGS
October 26th 2009 20:18
Ever notice when shopping in supermarkets they purposely put the
dairy aisle on the far side of the store? By the time you get over
there with your wagon full of food with screaming kids on board
you've had it with shopping and just want to get the heck out of there.
Supermarket merchandisers study your behavior. They know you
aren't get to be too persnickety about the price they're charging
for milk and eggs.
However, you'll usually pay at least 10 percent more for milk
purchased in a supermarket than you would in a chain drug
store, Walmart, K-Mart, warehouse stores or even many
convenience store chain gas station outlets.
Many times these alternative dairy product vendors hope
to lure you in with "loss leader" pricing on commodity food
items in hopes that you will spring for higher margin items
while you're in their stores.
It really does to pay to research the going rate for milk
and egg products among the competing retail outlets
in your area.
And remember, the IRS has not yet figured out a way
to tax you on the money you save through careful
shopping. They can tax the interest you'd make
on one dollar "invested" in a savings account, but not
on that dollar you just saved buying a half gallon of milk.
