Need something for your home but don't feel like parting with
the cash to buy it. How's free sound?
In 2003, a guy named Deron Beal of Tucson, Arizona saw
a need to keep perfectly good items out of landfills. The light
bulb went on over his head and he launched the Freecycle
Network.
Now, an international nonprofit organization with over seven
million members in 85 countries, the Freecycle Network
is made up of local computer based groups which hook its
members up with a venue for getting rid of useable items
and finding what they're in need of, free of charge.
Members place posts on the Freecyle Network's local
group site indicated whether they have something to give away
or need something. Members make arrangements to
pick up or drop off an item.
What could be simpler than that? No online auctions. No
shipping and handling. No sales tax. Everything is free!
