Using Ebay to Save Money on Netflix (LINK)
August 24th 2007 14:06
As evidenced by the comments on my last post, lots of people are using Net Flix to get movies. For those of you who get (or want to get a 3 a time subscription) I just discovered a less expensive way to get your NetFlix.
Many people get Net Flix gift subscriptions. But, what if you're not into watching movies and don't want to give out your debit card or checking account for a service that you'll barely use and might forget about? Answer: You sell it on Ebay. And that's what quite a few folks are doing.
For example, this Ebayer sold his 1 year gift subscription for $142.50. The lucky buyer saved $60 off of what he would normally pay for the subscription in stores. Sweet deal, all around. You can add these subscriptions to an existing Net Flix account, so if you buy one now, no more Net Flix fees for a years.
It goes without saying that if you do want to give someone a gift netflix subscription, you should buy it off Ebay where you'll probably get a significant discount off the retail price. Do be sure that the seller you're buying from isn't a first time seller. Also, be sure that the person you're buying the subscription for will really want to use it. If you're not careful, the NetFlix subscription could become the equivalent of a Fruitcake.
If you want to find some other interesting NetFlix options on Ebay for those who want to try out the service. One ebay store extends the Neflix free trial to a full month from the standard two weeks, for 3 movies unlimited for $1.99. You can't really beat that. Another seller is selling the two week free trial for $0.99, but if you stay on with NetFlix for a month, he'll give a $5.00 gift card. It sounds like a plan to play Net Flix's affiliate program. The seller gets your $0.99 (or what's left of it after Ebay's listing fee) and then gets his commission for selling yout the Netflix and in turn, gives you a $5 gift card.
Keep an eye on Ebay for other Interesting Netflix deals.
