FREE APPLES: DON'T FORGET ABOUT 'EM!
October 12th 2009 22:54
It's apple harvest time in the northern climes, bringing with
this traditional change of season guard, events like apple
festivals, fresh cider tasting and all that the commercial
orchard purveyors can dish up for us. All of this is wonderfully
healthy for us, especially during the advent of Swine Flu
Season.....however......
Apples can be rather pricy at the retail level, depending upon
where you live and of course, where you shop.
For our fellow frugal fans of this website, we offer this sage
advice: please do not forget about the apple drops from
long-forgotten homesteads and random planted apple trees
during the pre-20th century days of North America.
These noble apple trees are dropping their free-for-the-
picking healthy wares daily--if you know where to look.
Check out long abandoned farms along hiking trails, behind
shopping malls which were once working farms and of course
in your own neighborhood.
Apple trees are prolific, healthy and there for your eating
enjoyment. Yeah, you gotta wash em, peel em, cut out the
rotten parts, but then you have health on a core to add
to your morning cereal, waffles or grind up for juice.
