PUT A LID ON IT
June 15th 2010 13:10
Here's a way to cut your electric or gas bill while cooking:
when boiling a pot of water for pasta or vegetables, speed
the process by putting a lid on the pot while bringing it up
to the boiling point.
One caveat though, you have to stand nearby until it boils
otherwise the water could quickly boil over causing havoc
with your range burners.
Another electricity savings concept to keep in mind while
cooking: cast iron cookware heats up faster and retains
heat longer than stainless steel pots.
I find my cast iron wok is the most versatile cooking
vessel I own. One of the best long-term household
investments I ever made!
