REDUCED PRICED PRODUCE

July 11th 2011 13:30
Ever notice that when you enter most supermarkets the first thing
you come to is the produce section? Ah yes, everything looks
lovely.....the bacteria-laden water misters are spraying the greens
trucked from hundreds of miles away. Happy canned music is playing.

Boy, makes you feel like buying this pesticide laden over-priced
produce, until you look at the price of course.

Everything except the loss-leader, suck-you-into-their-store, sale
merchandise is greatly marked up in price.

What to do about it? Let's say, for convenience sake you like
shopping at your favorite mega-chain corporate store and don't

have the time to visit farm stands or grow your own produce.

A good first strategy is look for a "reduced price" produce rack,
one where the produce manager is trying to move product out the
door before the stuff spoils.

If your mega-supermarket greedy corporate owned one doesn't
offer a reduced price produce section, ask to speak to the all
powerful "Produce Manager."

Politely ask him or her what they would like to move out the
door that day, and of course a reduced price. Never hurts
to suggest to the corporate-powers-that-current ly-be at your
favorite market that they consider offering a reduced price
produce section.
