SAVE ON FROZEN TREATS
Got kids? Are they bugging you for over-priced ice cream
and frozen treats during the Dog Days of August?
Instead of springing for wicked expensive frozen chemicals
on a stick from your grocer's frozen dessert case or from
the mobile ding-dong ice cream truck, try this instead:
Take a bottle of your kids' favorite juice, or juices and pour
into freezer safe small cups like the plastic containers you
get when purchasing salads from the deli.
Cover the portion sized containers with the lid they came
with or top with plastic wrap. Place in your freezer.
Voila! There you go. About three hours later you have
a healthy version of store-bought Italian ice.
When your kids question what you are trying to get them
to try--it didn't come in a fancy box, so in the kid's mind
it can't be any good--tell them, " Mama Lucia, the little old
Italian lady down the street made this for you. It's from
an old family secret recipe. She also sells it to special
customers, but she likes us, so it's free!"
